Endangered leatherback sea turtles, marine mammals and other marine species are at risk. Your help is needed to prevent swordfish longline fishing from beginning along the California coast where it has been banned for 30 years.

ATTEND CALIFORNIA COASTAL COMMISSION'S PUBLIC HEARING to ask them to vote "no" on longlines:

Date: August 10th, 2007, 9am Where: Hyatt Regency Embarcadero, 5 Embarcadero Plaza, San Francisco Please contact Kate Taylor at kate@seaturtles.org or on (415) 488 0370, ext. 111 for further information

The California Coastal Commission (CCC) will be voting in August on an Exempted Fishing Permit (EFP) submitted by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) that would allow swordfish longline fishing in the "Leatherback Conservation Area" along the California and Oregon coast, which has been found to be critical habitat for this highly endangered species.
