LETTERS NEEDED BEFORE TUESDAY FEBRUARY 12, 2008
It's almost time to congratulate ourselves on a major victory for Lagunitas coho!
After months (years) of strongly advocating for:
(1) A cumulative impact analysis to make scientifically informed decisions about development impacts on streams in the Lagunitas Watershed,
(2) A moratorium on new streamside construction until such time as we have the necessary data from such a study, and
(3) A new Riparian Tree Ordinance to protect the long-term survival of streamside forests so crucial to the survival of our young salmon,
Marin County Supervisors have apparently agreed to address our concerns and meet our requests by considering the adoption of a new ordinance this coming Tuesday.
On TUES, Feb 12, the Board of Supervisors are scheduled to vote to begin a $300,000 Salmon Enhancement Study of the San Geronimo Creek Watershed with the help of SPAWN and to place a moratorim on any new construction in the 100-foot buffer areas along all coho and steelhead creeks in the San Geronimo Creek Watershed for a two-year period.
Please take a minute to send the email below.
Also please consider coming to the Public Hearing on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, Room 330, Civic Center, San Rafael
