NO TO THE RUSSIAN RIVER PIPLELINE (again)!

Action Needed by June 1, 2005

The MMWD Board will be discussing this issue tonight (May 26th, 2005)!
Final vote is scheduled to occur before June 30th.
ACT NOW!

Dear Friends,

We are asking you to act quickly by doing two things now:

1) Send the letter below to MMWD Directors; and

2) Forward this message to as many friends as possible

There are several things wrong with this plan!

  • MMWD would need to build the controversial $20 million Russian River Pipeline in order to deliver this extra water.
  • The additional water would further harm the salmon resources of the Russian and Eel Rivers.
  • Even after paying $6 million, there is no guarantee that Marin would ever receive the water, due to the listing of salmon as endangered and the on-going litigation on the Eel River diversion into the Russian River.
  • More water opens the door for more development and traffic in Marin.

Citizen opposition to the construction of the Russian River Pipeline buried this environmental and economic boondoggle in 2000, just five years ago. Unfortunately, there are a couple of new MMWD directors who are new and were not on the Board in 2000.

The time has returned to send a strong clear message to MMWD Board.  Please send an email today to the MMWD Board of Directors. The sample letter below can be pasted into a new email and forwarded to MMWD Board. Also call or fax your message (see contact info below).

Please act now! The MMWD Board will be discussing this issue tonight!
