In 2006, 50% of an existing driveway was decommissioned and converted into an organic food-garden. The remaining driveway area was converted to a semi-permeable surface using turfstones planted with cover crops, drought-resistant bunchgrass, pennyroyal and wildflowers.

A roofwater catchment system was integrated into a 240- sq. ft. shed roof. A total of 8 55- and 65-gallon rainbarrels capture the runoff from the roof and overflow into a 550-gallon cistern. All the water captured and stored is used to irrigate the organic garden and native plantings on the property.

Project achieves 100% stormwater retention with overflow into vegetated areas.
