Career/Internship Opportunities at SPAWN

Coho Salmon Habitat Restoration & Events Intern: works to organize and implement public events that perform coho salmon habitat restoration projects in the field for the Salmon Protect and Watershed Network (www.spawnusa.org).

Position Description: SPAWN is seeking a motivated intern to focus on salmonid habitat restoration. The Restoration Intern will be responsible for organizing, implementing, and improving SPAWN's habitat restoration program under the supervision of SPAWN's staff. This includes working with SPAWN's native plant nursery and leading weekly habitat restoration volunteer workdays. The Restoration Intern will also be responsible for volunteer recruitment and outreach, as well as data collection and entry. The Restoration Intern will gain technical skills in riparian ecology, native and invasive plant identification, native plant propagation, and fisheries biology. The position will also include training in restoration techniques and field methods.

Watershed Science Intern: works to organize and implement research and monitoring activities for coho salmon and other terrestrial and aquatic wildlife for the Salmon Protect and Watershed Network (www.spawnusa.org).

Position Description: SPAWN is seeking a motivated intern to focus on watershed and fisheries sciences. The Watershed Intern will be responsible for coordinating salmon monitoring activities under the supervision of SPAWN's staff. This includes recruiting volunteers to assist with monitoring, coordinating monitoring, schedules, data collection and entry, and reporting monitoring results. The Watershed Intern will also be responsible for volunteer recruitment and outreach and supporting SPAWN's environmental education programs. The Watershed Intern will gain technical skills in fisheries biology, research and monitoring, data collection, environmental education, and salmonid restoration. The position will also include training in riparian restoration techniques and field methods.

Native Plant Nursery Intern: works to organize and coordinate native plant nursery operations for the Salmon Protect and Watershed Network (www.spawnusa.org).

Position Description: SPAWN is seeking a motivated intern to focus on plant propagation and nursery management at our Forest Knolls, Lagunitas, and Tocaloma native plant nurseries. The Native Plant Nursery Intern will be responsible for coordinating nursery operations to support SPAWN's habitat restoration programs and commercial plant sales division under the supervision of SPAWN's staff. This includes working with SPAWN's nursery volunteers and assisting with weekly native plant nursery volunteer workdays. The Native Plant Nursery Intern will be responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising nursery volunteers as well as conducting inventory management, nursery watering and maintenance, and related tasks.
