Water Quality Monitoring

Join a citizen-based water quality testing team!

SPAWN surveys creeks and tests water quality in the Lagunitas Watershed through a partnership with the Regional Water Quality Control Board.

SPAWN volunteers collect water samples from creeks in the watershed, which are home to federally `threatened' coho salmon, steelhead trout and countless other species plus 3,300 humans. Volunteers will be trained in water quality sampling techniques, creek safety and data collection.

The Watershed is currently officially listed as `impaired' by the Regional Water Quality Control Board for sediment pathogens, and nutrients.

Spawning Salmon Monitoring Program
Our program has greatly improved the information on spawning salmon populations in the Lagunitas Watershed. Up to 10 creeks not previously surveyed by government agencies have been regularly surveyed for the last four years.
