Rising water costs, drier winters, low levels in reservoirs and requests to conserve water are becoming more common here in Marin County. As population in Sonoma county grows and more housing is built their demand for water will continue to escalate further reducing water supplies for Marin.
Once you have installed the drip irrigation, dug up the lawn and put in drought tolerant plants what else can you do outside to reduce your water consumption ? Many of us rejoice at the arrival of those winter rains but few of us know how to harvest the water for future usage. Come and learn how to add rain water harvesting techniques to your garden.

Paola Bouley, Conservation Program Director, Salmon Protection And Watershed Network (SPAWN), and President of the Board of Sustainable Fairfax will be highlighting the multiple benefits and importance of rainwater harvesting in its diversity of forms, from earthworks and soils to cisterns. She will also be presenting resources and techniques for successful rain water harvesting projects for landscape designers and gardeners.
