March 24th to June 6th! Smolt Outmigration Monitoring!

March 9, 2010 through May 26, 2010
SPAWN has teamed up with MMWD, DFG, and NPS to continue monitoring the Coho and Steelhead smolt outmigration to the sea this spring. We are looking for volunteers to help us monitor the fish! Are you interested in learning to identify and measure smolt? Do you want to gain experience in fisheries research? Then come join us and enjoy Lower Lagunitas and San Geronimo Creeks!

The smolt are on the move! Our season starts next week and we will start scheduling volunteers for March 24th through early June. Volunteer monitoring days run Wednesday through Sundays every week. Hours will vary depending on the number of smolt seen, but expect anywhere from 2-4 hours starting at 9am and ending no later then 1pm.

Contact Carrie Sendak at carrie@spawnusa.org for details, scheduling, and to reserve** your volunteer spot!

**Since space is limited and monitoring is ongoing, we are asking volunteers for a commitment of at least two days per month.
