Survey for Spawning Coho this Winter

November 15, 2005 through March 10, 2006
Be trained by SPAWN biologists to conduct spawning surveys this winter. You will learn how to identify salmonids and their redds (gravel nests) and help collect important scientific data that contributes to our understanding of local salmon ecology.

Trained in the field, surveyers must be available approximately once a week to walk about a 1/2 to1 mile of stretch of creek between November and February. Each survey takes approx. 1/2 day. Surveys are conducted a few days after each rain event therefore surveyers are required to have a flexible schedule.

Individuals must be in good physical condition and be able to follow very specific monitoring and data collection protocols.
