Nov 22 - Giacomini Wetlands Restoration & Fish Talk

November 18, 2008 through November 23, 2008
Join us for a unique opportunity to learn from and help Point Reyes National Seashore Parks staff at the Giacomini Wetlands this weekend.

SPAWN is partnering with the Point Reyes National Seashore Parks staff to plant natives and continue with the restoration of 550 acres of wetlands at the south end of Tomales Bay. This project is opening up new habitat for juvenile coho, aiding their migration through Tomales Bay to the Ocean, and SPAWN wants to show its gratitude to the PRNS for tackling such a large project for our coho!

Saturday, November 22, 2008
At 10:00am Brannon Ketchum and Michael Reichmuth will be sharing information on the hydrology and fish use of the wetland restoration site.

At 12:30, the volunteer group hikes into the wetlands for restoration planting. We will be digging holes and planting nursery raised plants to give the revegetation of exposed areas a head start.

Meet at the corner of 5th and C Streets in Point Reyes for both events.

Please dress for the weather, wear boots or shoes that can get dirty, and bring a water bottle.

This event will take the place of our normal SPAWN Saturday Restoration in the San Geronimo Valley. Check our calendar of all our upcoming native plant nursery and stream restoration volunteer opportunities this winter. Reply to Chris if you would like to join a carpool to Point Reyes for this event.
