Raingarden Tours - Mar 20 (FULL) & 21

February 27, 2009 through March 22, 2009
Come see what your neighbors have been doing in the backyards to 'Slow it, Spread it, Sink it' (rain water, that is!)

Hi Friends,

Thank you for joining SPAWN's Spring Rain Garden tour, co-sponsored by Sustainable Fairfax and the San Geronimo Valley Cultural Center. We really look forward to meeting everyone this SAT Mar 21th!

Here are a few details about where we are meeting and what to bring:
The tour starts at 10AM (registration begins at 9:30am) and will meet at the Sustainability Center in Fairfax at 141 Bolinas Road, Fairfax, CA (right across the road from Fairfax town hall). Please use street parking. We will carpool to two additional new Rain Garden sites in Fairfax and Lagunitas after introductions and touring the projects at the Sustainability Center,

Important! If you are on this list we have reserved a space for your group. If you have not mailed in your registration please bring cash or a check on the day. We will be there from 9:30am to register you before the tours begins, so please come a little early if you still need to register.

A reminder, the cost is $15 members, or $25 non-members($40 for tour + annual membership). ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT WATERSHED RESTORATION PROJECTS TO SUPPORT COHO SALMON RECOVERY.

Between 9:30 and 10:15am we will be joined by Patti Vance of http://www.calrainwater.com/ who will have good quality 200-gallon and 300-gallon rainbarrels on site for demonstration and for sale. We will also be joined by Sustainable Fairfax's Executive Director, Pam Hartwell-Herrero, who will showcase the Sustainability Center's raingardens and roofwater harvesting system and talk about upcoming community projects she is spear-heading in Fairfax.

We will also have additional supplies and resources on hand to share. If you are a restoration professional or landscape designer or water conservation specialist (as I know a number of you are), please feel free to bring resources and materials you may want to share with the group. Come early if you can!

Tour will proceed rain or shine. Bring layered clothing and snacks and water to sustain you.

p.s. if you have a minute, drop me a quick note about your interests in this topic and the main issues/topics you would like to learn about and take away from this tour.

Please let me know if I can provide any additional information before then.

And one last thing... an inspirational video to share: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWnhYIIKY0U

See you soon!
