Take action to reduce runoff contamination from your property! SPAWN offers free consultation to landowners interested in installing raingardens and water catchment systems on their properties throughout the Lagunitas Creek Watershed and West Marin County. Interested in a fun day combating invasive plants or learning about and planting native species in this beautiful watershed? Please join us on our restoration day every Saturday from 10am-2pm.
Are you worried about an eroding stream bank on your property or a back yard overgrown with invasive non-native plants? SPAWN also provides FREE consultation and habitat restoration crew to work with private landowners.
The native plant nursery is in action every Friday from 10am-1pm, preparing for fall planting season and plant sales! Transplanting is our main activity: moving seedlings from our greenhouse into bigger pots so they can stretch their roots and grow. The nursery is a great place to learn gardening skills and about the incredible diversity of plants growing in this watershed. Anyone interested in gardening, plants, or just a fun activity in the West Marin sunshine is strongly encouraged to spend a morning at the nursery! A healthy watershed is one of the most important things we can provide for our coho salmon. The plants we raise in our nursery and plant in the watershed grow to provide shade, habitat, and food for the salmon. They also provide the critical functions of bank stabilization and healthy soil filtration, so we decrease sediment and toxins making their way to the creeks. The salmon need all the help they can get, and every set of helping hands counts! We hope to see you out on the creek soon!
